THE BUCKET LIST
Making a Bucket List is rapidly becoming a fad and for many, perhaps a necessity. And what, pray tell, is a bucket list? For the uninformed and yet uninitiated into the art of modern living, this is a wishful yearning, the ultimate ‘if only’ and ‘been there, done that’ list. Its content is sacred for those who laboriously create it. Simply put, things you wish to do before you die!
I’ve had the opportunity to peruse many such lists of close friends and closer relatives. Mostly, these are predictable and ‘doable’.
Swimming with the dolphins, bungee jumping, tightrope walking, sky-diving, rappelling and travelling to Bora Bora in a Cessna are some of the safer aspirations of many.
So before you sit down to chronologically list your yearnings, here is a tip to the art of making a Bucket List. First, ask yourself, do you want to live it up dangerously? Or do you wish to fulfill your desires treacherously!! Sensibly, the answer needs to be somewhere between ‘being smart’ and ‘being logical’. So go ahead and prepare your wish list. Delving deep into the recesses of your mind to discover those unfulfilled instants, the ‘almost did it’, second, the ‘at the tip of’ minute, that still haunts you and urges you to do something about it.
There must be mountain that wants to be climbed and a land beckoning to be conquered: A hand that waits to be shaken and a variety of foods that need to be relished. Don’t postpone it to another day. Plan it now. For life is ...... just as long as it ‘IS’!
